The Unicode Consortium is a non-profit organization that develops, extends, and promotes the Unicode Standard which specifies the representation of text in modern software products and standards. Membership is open to organizations and individuals who support the Unicode Standard and wish to assist in its extension and implementation.

Founded in 1990, the Localization Industry Standard Association (LISA) is the premier non-profit organization for the GILT (Globalization, Internationalization, Localization, and Translation) business community. More than 400 leading IT manufacturers and services providers, along with industry professionals representing corporations with an international business focus, have helped establish LISA's best practice guidelines and language-technology standards for enterprise globalization.

The Localization Institute provides resources, training, seminars, and conferences on localization, internationalization, and international business development. It is not affiliated with any localization service or tool provider. Its mission is to enable companies to succeed in international markets by providing focused training for professionals and by promoting the sharing of experience and information among them.
