The Unicode Consortium is a non-profit organization that
develops, extends, and promotes the Unicode Standard which specifies the
representation of text in modern software products and standards. The
consortium represents a broad spectrum of corporations and organizations
in the computer and information processing industries. Membership is open
to organizations and individuals who support the Unicode Standard and
wish to assist in its extension and implementation.
Founded in 1990, the Localization Industry Standard Association
(LISA) is the premier non-profit organization for the GILT (Globalization,
Internationalization, Localization, and Translation) business community.
More than 400 leading IT manufacturers and services providers, along with
industry professionals representing corporations with an international
business focus, have helped establish LISA's best practice guidelines
and language-technology standards for enterprise globalization.
The Localization Institute provides resources, training,
seminars, and conferences on localization, internationalization, and international
business development. It is not affiliated with any localization service
or tool provider. Its mission is to enable companies to succeed in international
markets by providing focused training for professionals and by promoting
the sharing of experience and information among them.
